TMT Championship 2024: Chan Chun Wai Wins The Mini-Main Event

TMT Championship 2024 Main Event, which had a prize pool of NT$ 3 million (about US$ 92,500), was the main event of Day 5. There were 566 people in the event, split into four starting flights. By the end, the prize pool had grown to NT$ 5.9 million, which is about US$ 185,000, almost double the amount that had been promised. Furthermore, 87 players made it to the finals, and each one was promised at least NT$ 18,000, which is about US$ 560.

The winner was Chan Chun Wai after a tough heads-up match with Hao Chen Cheng. Chun Wai put pressure on his opponent skilfully, winning the championship and a prize of NT$ 1,022,000 (about US$ 31,830). He did this while having a 3-to-1 chip advantage. This victory is Chan’s biggest professional win and a major turning point in his poker career.

Additionally, the awards at the final table for the best players showed how competitive the event was:

  1. 1st Place: Chan Chun Wai – NT$ 1,022,000 (~US$ 31,830)
  2. 2nd Place: Hao Chen Cheng – NT$ 718,000 (~US$ 22,360)
  3. 3rd Place: Tsz Lo – NT$ 464,000 (~US$ 14,450)
  4. 4th Place: Yu Yung Lin – NT$ 342,000 (~US$ 10,650)

TMT Championship 2024 has surely added to the thrill around the TMT Championship since both the prize pools and player attendance surpass expectations.

TMT Championship 2024 Mystery Bounty Action: The Pfgt X Taipei Cup

Launched with a major NT$ 4 million guarantee (about US$ 124,600), the TMT Championship partnered with the Korean Poker Face Global Tournament (PFGT) to create the PFGT x Taipei Cup Mystery Bounty. Starting with a hopeful total of 174 players between Flight A and Flight B, the event launched its first two flights. 27 players progressed from these two flights to the Day 2 Final, scheduled for October 31.

With a healthy chip count of 713,000, Wei Jen Wang was leading the group from Flight B. Yu Chien Kung from Flight A trailed him with 358,000 chips. Complementing the top three chip leaders was Seung Hyuk Jung, who had 313,000 Flight A chips. Along with this, strong contenders from this Mystery Bounty event already point to an exciting conclusion.

The Top 10 Chip Leaders For Flights A And B Are As Follows:

  • 1st: Wei Jen Wang – 713,000
  • 2nd: Yu Chien Kung – 358,000
  • 3rd: Seung Hyuk Jung – 313,000
  • 4th: Dacja Termsinvanit – 303,000
  • 5th: Che Chun Chu – 285,000

The PFGT x Taipei Cup is still getting a lot of attention, and there are still two more flights to go. This keeps the tension high as players get closer to the big prizes.

The Single Day High Roller Is Where Ko Chia Hsiang Shines

It was well-deserved for Taiwanese poker pro-Ko Chia Hsiang to win the Single Day High Roller, which has very high prizes. Since the series started, Ko came very close to finishing on the podium twice. On his third try, he finally won the race. Along with 44 other players, Ko beat the field, winning NT$ 584,300 (about US$ 18,220). The buy-in for the tournament was NT$ 40,000, which is about US$ 1,240.

The prize pool for the High Roller game was NT$ 1,579,200, which is about US$ 49,195, and only seven people won money. However, the winners and finalists of the TMT Championship 2024 in the end were:

  • 1st Place: Ko Chia Hsiang – NT$ 584,300 (~US$ 18,220)
  • 2nd Place: Lok Ming Chan – NT$ 347,400 (~US$ 10,830)
  • 3rd Place: Daniel Yang – NT$ 213,200 (~US$ 6,650)

This victory underlines Ko’s ability in high-stakes environments and confirms his leadership in the TMT Championship. Nevertheless, his tenacity and knowledge are helping him to negotiate the TMT Championship events.

TMT Championship 2024: Kristof Segers Champions The Hendon Mob

Adding to the Day 5 list of winners, Belgian player Kristof Segers took home the Hendon Mob Championship (THMC). Attracting 36 entrants, each paying NT$ 15,000 (about US$ 465), this event generated a total prize fund of NT$ 471,500 (about US$ 14,450). Six players made it to the money, and Segers emerged as the champion with NT$ 183,900—about US$ 5,735.

Segers beat well-known Taiwanese player Wu Chiayun in an exciting heads-up match; he left with NT$ 108,400 (approximately US$ 3,380), a second-place result. Despite, this victory, Segers has established himself among the top TMT Championship players and made a great impression on the international poker scene with his skills.

TMT Championship 2024 Day 5: Test Of Rising Talent And Growing Popularity Of Poker

TMT Championship 2024 Day 5 events mirror the growing popularity of poker in Taiwan and Asia. The CTP Club’s attempts to create a world-class poker festival have drawn both seasoned players and up-and-coming stars, therefore offering a forum for high-stakes rivalry and worldwide local talent exhibition.

From Chan Chun Wai’s career-defining Mini Main Event triumph to Ko Chia Hsiang’s tenacity paying off in the Single Day High Roller, the TMT Championship has evolved into a proving ground for some of the best players in the poker universe. Added to the attractiveness of the day were the cooperative PFGT x Taipei Cup and the Hendon Mob Championship, which attracted a varied range of players and provided rather large prize pools.

The TMT Championship keeps pushing new limits and raising standards for poker events in Asia. Events scheduled till November 4 mean even more exciting moments, career-defining wins, and spectacular showdowns for poker aficionados.
