The poker world has lost one of its most cherished players, Mark Martin, who passed away at the age of 70. Martin, a beloved fixture in the Midwest poker scene, leaves behind lasting contributions to the game and an unforgettable legacy.
🎲 A Poker Legend
Mark Martin wasn’t just any poker player. He was a tournament specialist, known for his remarkable victories and two prestigious WSOP Circuit (WSOPC) rings. His career earnings hit an impressive $283,025, with standout moments in multiple events.
His most notable victory came in 2020 at the WSOP Circuit Hard Rock Tulsa Event #4: $400 NLH, where he took home $12,995. But it didn’t stop there—two years later, Martin triumphed again, claiming the WSOP Circuit Choctaw Durant Seniors Event #2: $250 NLH for $17,492.
In addition to his two WSOPC rings, Martin was a champion at the 2014 RunGood Poker Series, where he bested 262 players to win $36,218 at the Downstream Casino.
🌟 Legacy Beyond the Table
Mark’s dedication to poker was matched only by his commitment to family and community. Born on October 29, 1954, in Arkansas City, Kansas, Mark graduated from Cowley County Community College in 1974. That same year, he married his wife, Debra R. Weaver.
Mark and Debra made a life in Burden, Kansas, where they ran the Arctic Locker for nearly 20 years. He later pursued ranching, running a hog consignment farm for 15 years and raising cattle near Dexter, his childhood home. In 2017, they built their dream home with a personal touch—a lake in their backyard. Mark also enjoyed fishing and bird hunting, particularly for quail.
💖 Remembering a Legend
