The 2024 WSOP has completely blown everyone away, breaking all sorts of records and going above and beyond anything anyone could have imagined. The whole poker world is in utter shock. This year’s event has shattered all previous WSOP records, with an unprecedented number of entries and a staggering sum of money gathered.
More People Taking Part
There were a total of 215,655 entries in the WSOP events last year. That figure surged to 229,559 this year—enough to fill almost 3.5 Allegiant Stadiums—because four extra live bracelet events were added. For the second year running, with 20,647 entrants, the $300 Gladiators of Poker event was the most popular. With 19,303 entries, the $400 Colossus was almost 20,000 shy of the mark. The $1,000 Mystery Millions had 18,409 entries, the $1,500 Millionaire Maker had 10,939, and the $10,000 Main Event broke records with 10,112 entrants.
The exact amount needed to participate in all events is $971,856—nearly a million dollars.
Nearly half a billion dollars gambled
The 2024 WSOP Bracelet events brought over almost $500 million. At $480,764, the total comes out to be $40 million more than the previous year. From World Bank estimates, this sum surpasses the GDP of several nations, including Micronesia ($460 million), Kiribati ($279 million), Palau ($263 million), the Marshall Islands ($284 million), Nauru ($154 million), and Tuvalu ($62 million).
