Jason Koon’s Unstoppable Run Continues

Days after winning his 11th Triton Poker title, Jason Koon won again. He faced 51 entries, comprising 30 unique players. Koon showed great skill in the $30K Pot-Limit Omaha Bounty Quattro event.

The final battle was a thrilling showdown against a close friend and poker giant, Seth Davies. Davies, who had earlier claimed his first Triton title at this Montenegro stop, pushed the stakes to the limit. Eventually, the two agreed to an ICM chop, locking in $305,176 for Koon and $296,824 for Davies. However, the battle for the remaining $17,000 and the final bounty was fiercely contested — and ultimately claimed by Koon, who walked away with a total of $385,176, including $80,000 in bounties.

Koon’s post-victory interview perfectly captured the intensity of the series. “All that winning wears you out!” he joked, acknowledging the mental and physical strain of back-to-back deep runs. Despite the fatigue and pressure, Koon’s laser focus never wavered. His dedication to maintaining enjoyment and composure at the table is a key factor in his continued success on this elite tour.

By claiming his 12th Triton title — seven more than any other player — Koon has cemented his legacy as the face of the premier high-roller poker tour. From his first Triton victory in the same Montenegrin room years ago to the present, his sustained excellence serves as a blueprint for poker greatness.

Santhosh Suvarna: India’s Poker Powerhouse Shines Bright in Triton Poker

While Koon’s historic win grabbed headlines, Santhosh Suvarna quietly yet emphatically reminded the poker world why he’s India’s undisputed high roller king. Suvarna finished eighth in the $30K PLO Bounty Quattro event, earning $81,000 (~₹69.17 Lakhs), including a crucial $40,000 bounty after eliminating Canadian star Dan Dvoress.

This marked Suvarna’s fifth cash at the Montenegro stop, bringing his total haul from the series to an astonishing $1,219,500 (~₹10.41 Crores). His consistent deep runs in the most challenging fields highlight why he’s not only India’s top tournament player but also one of the globe’s most respected competitors.

Suvarna’s remarkable Montenegro campaign included finishes like:

  • 15th in Event #2: $25K NLH 8-Handed for $50,500 (~₹43.20 Lakhs)
  • 7th in Event #10: $100K NLH Main Event for $693,500 (~₹5.91 Crores)
  • 11th in Event #12: $150K NLH 8-Handed for $332,000 (~₹2.83 Crores)
  • 8th in Event #16: $50K PLO 6-Handed for $113,000 (~₹96.50 Lakhs)

His stellar 2024 season, where he earned $8.40 million (~₹71.70 Crores) across 24 cashes, already set the stage for his continued rise. Currently ranked #70 globally, Suvarna’s lifetime live tournament earnings now exceed $18.74 million (₹160 Crores), with more than half earned on the challenging Triton tour.

With the 2025 World Series of Poker underway, Suvarna’s momentum positions him as a serious contender for yet more titles and millions in winnings.

Event #17: A Battle of Titans Of Triton Poker

The $30K PLO Bounty Quattro attracted a compact yet elite field, generating a prize pool of $1.53 million. Only the top eight finishers received payouts, underscoring the razor-thin margins in this high-stakes contest.

Notably, poker legend Phil Ivey narrowly missed cashing in this event, bubbling for the second time in Montenegro — a reminder that even the best can face brutal variance.

The final table was stacked with champions and seasoned contenders. Jason Koon entered as chip leader with a commanding stack of 2,685,000 chips (54 big blinds). Other finalists included Artur Martirosian, Nacho Barbero, Gergo Nagy, Jonas Kronwitter, Andrew Leathem, and Seth Davies.

Early final table action was electric with multiple all-ins and comebacks. Nacho Barbero battled back from a tiny stack, while Martirosian, despite a strong series, bowed out seventh after a crucial hand against Koon.

Jonas Kronwitter and Gergo Nagy had their moments of brilliance, but eventually fell short as Davies mounted a comeback from a short stack. The heads-up showdown between Koon and Davies was a fitting climax to an intense week of high-stakes poker.

Final Thoughts: A Series to Remember

Jason Koon’s 12th Triton Poker title and Santhosh Suvarna’s massive earnings were the defining stories of Triton SHRS Montenegro. Both players showed why they belong at the pinnacle of poker’s elite, blending skill, endurance, and mental fortitude in the fiercest competition.

As the poker world looks forward to the 2025 WSOP and other significant events, fans will watch keenly to see if Koon and Suvarna can continue their impressive streaks.
