Usually, in the online poker world, Tuesdays are a bit dull; this week was an exciting exception. With players vying for outstanding prize pools and exclusive titles, the much-awaited ₹60 Crore GTD Indian Poker Masters on PokerBaazi and the ₹12+ Crore GTD Azadi Series on Junglee Poker provided a rush of excitement.
Online poker was alive with brilliant action and outstanding performance. In the summer Olympics, Indian athletes had a mixed bag of results. The first Indian woman to reach an Olympic wrestling final, Vinesh Phogat made history only to be disqualified for exceeding the weight restriction by one hundred grammes. The women’s table tennis team was eliminated after a harrowing encounter with Germany. Positively, golfer Aditi Ashok started Round 1 of the Women’s Individual Stroke Play strongly.
Renowned for his MoneyMaker 17.0 triumph, Mukesh Surana returned triumphally following a four-week sabbatical in the poker scene. Along with a top prize of ₹9.95 Lakhs, he swept PokerBaazi’s ₹60 Lakhs GTD IPM#18 Big Megastack, claiming his second India Poker Masters title and the lone IPM trophy of the day.
