Indian Online Poker Scene Running Strong
Online poker in India is humming with activity! High-stakes events hosted by big sites such as Natural8 India, Junglee Poker, and PokerBaazi are stretching players’ competitive limits and inspiring aspirations. With its massive ₹12+ Crores GTD Azadi Series almost finished, Junglee Poker promises exciting showdowns and life-changing rewards. As Poker Baazi moves through its middle stages, its esteemed ₹60 Crores GTD Indian Poker Masters generates an exciting environment.
The fight for the much sought-after Player of the Year (POY) title is getting intense with huge stakes and changing leaderboards.
Neel Joshi: ruling the POY Race
Neel Joshi is still a dangerous competitor in the POY race. Joshi is dominant with a startling ₹4.70 Crores in victories and ₹2.74 Crores in profits this year. He kept his lead even during a slower week when four deep runs brought ₹45,559. Currently juggling his poker skills with personal time, Joshi is enjoying a deserved vacation with his family in Germany. Joshi’s trip in 2024 has been remarkable; he has 11 seven-figure marks alone on Natural8 India. His reputation is strengthened even more by his honest attitude to high-stakes games and recent designation as a PokerStars India Ambassador.
Strong contender Nishaanth Shanmughasundaram holds second position with ₹2.81 Crores in prizes and ₹1.97 Crores in earnings. His triumph in the Beijing Mystery Bounty Millions proved his extraordinary ability and ranked second among all Indian players on the internet. Currently in third place with ₹2.50 Crores in annual prizes and ₹86.37 Lakhs in annual profits, Advait Rajguru keeps rising on the standings. Recently adding ₹3.48 Lakhs from 14 deep runs, Rajguru included a final table finish.
The War for POY Still Under-Runs
Joshi enjoys his advantage, but the POY race is still challenging. Now at POY #4, Sashank Chakravarthy burst with a ₹16.76 Lakhs haul, surpassing his annual earnings at ₹2 Crores. With ₹2.04 Crores in annual earnings, Mohak Kapoor, sometimes dubbed as the “TLB King,” also joined the “₹2 Crore club.” Still, significant players in the race are Sagar Raj and Gaurav Sood, with ₹ 1.97 Crores and ₹ 1.95 Crores in prizes, respectively.
