Hellmuth called the WSOP Main Event an “Endurance Test” and suggested it could use days off. He even claims 80% of players agree with him. But still, his absence is a shock to the poker world.

Hellmuth has 16 WSOP bracelets. His name is synonymous with the WSOP. His decision to skip the biggest poker event of the year leaves us all wondering: Will this be the end of an era?
