Las Vegas, June 2, 2025 – For poker fans around the world and especially those following the rise of poker in India, this summer’s WSOP 2025 continues to deliver legendary moments. The latest belongs to Benny Glaser, who cemented his status among poker’s elite by capturing his sixth World Series of Poker bracelet in Event #8: $1,500 Dealers Choice.

Glaser took home $150,246 (~₹1.25 Crore) after conquering a record-setting field of 597 entries, outlasting one of the gutsiest final table opponents in recent WSOP memory — Matthew Schreiber.

A Champion Forged Through Adversity

Benny Glaser’s journey to the top didn’t begin with fireworks. When he first flew to Las Vegas for the WSOP in 2014, he failed to cash a single event. Many might have given up. Glaser, however, returned stronger the following year — and that marked the beginning of an incredible legacy.

In 2015, Glaser captured his first bracelet in Event #33: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw, pocketing $136,215. That win not only announced his arrival but also showcased his comfort in lesser-known mixed formats.

He didn’t stop there. In 2016, Glaser completed a rare feat by winning two bracelets in the same series:

  • His second bracelet came in Event #32: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Championship, where he defeated a stacked field for $407,194.
  • Just two weeks later, he claimed his third bracelet in Event #46: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo, adding another $244,103 to his career total.

These back-to-back victories made it clear that Glaser wasn’t a one-format wonder. He was here to master them all.

After a few quiet years, Glaser returned in 2021 with yet another standout performance. In Event #78: $10,000 Razz Championship, he bagged his fourth bracelet and $274,693 in a game that demands a completely different skillset than most hold’em or Omaha variants.

Then in 2022, he added bracelet number five by winning Event #26: $10,000 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Championship for $248,292 — returning to the same format where he first made his mark.

Each bracelet added another layer to Glaser’s growing reputation: not just as a top-tier player, but as perhaps the greatest mixed-game specialist of his generation.

A Wild Final Table: Survival, Swings, and Schreiber’s Comebacks

Entering Day 3, Glaser was the chip leader with over 3 million in chips. However, the path to victory was anything but smooth. He had to withstand the relentless resilience of Matthew Schreiber, who came back from multiple near-eliminations.

Schreiber was down to just 45,000 chips three-handed and again to 125,000 chips heads-up, but somehow managed to survive 10+ all-ins, pushing Glaser to the edge of frustration.

“I was getting concerned again,” Glaser admitted. “It was insane. He kept surviving, and I lost count of how many times I had him all-in.”

In the final hand, Glaser shoved with A♠9♠, and Schreiber called off with 9♦8♣. The board ran out dry, and finally, Glaser could breathe. After a marathon of swings, he was the last man standing.

Dealer’s Choice: A Playground for the Best

Dealer’s Choice is no ordinary event. It demands fluency in 21 different poker variants — from Stud and Badugi to Triple Draw and Pot-Limit Omaha.

Glaser’s edge was in his versatility. “I adjusted my picks based on the table and stage,” he said. “It makes a big difference. And it’s more fun too — more bracelet chances, more edges to push.”

His performance was not only strategic but inspiring. Every decision showcased years of dedication to mastering mixed games.

What’s Next? No Rest, Just More Mixed Games

While most players would take a break after such a grueling event, Glaser isn’t wired that way. “I’m very sleep-deprived,” he admitted, “but I’ll probably play again tomorrow. I don’t even know what event it is, but if it’s a mixed game, I’m in.”

Although he had to skip some favorites like the $10K Omaha Hi-Lo and No-Limit Single Draw, he said, “It was worth it. I’m happy I missed those — because I won this.”

Final Thoughts

Benny Glaser’s story is a powerful reminder to every aspiring grinder — in India and around the world — that greatness in poker isn’t limited to just Hold’em titles. It’s about patience, persistence, and passion across every format.

With six bracelets, Glaser has officially joined the game’s legends. Yet, at just 35, he’s still writing his story. If the rest of WSOP 2025 is any indication, don’t be surprised if bracelet number seven isn’t far behind.
