Well-known poker player Angela Jordison reached a noteworthy mark this past weekend when she won the $1,101 Main Event at the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) at Ameristar East Chicago. Though the competition was fierce with 861 participants, Jordison won and took home her career-high $161,513. This triumph exceeded her previous record, $151,544, which she obtained for third place in the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #18: $1,000 NLH Freezeout.
When she thought back on her triumph, Jordison said, “This has just really been on my bucket list. Everything about this tour—the price range, the personnel, the quality—love it. I note “Win an MSPT” every year on January 1st.
Having finished fifth each time in four previous final table events, her victory was her maiden MSPT crown.

Angela Jordison Taking the Final Hand in Victory
Angela Jordison came into heads-up play with Miguel Martinez leading 2:1. Martinez moved all-in with pocket tens at a key point, but Jordison called with ace-seven of clubs. Two clubs from the flip gave Jordison a flush draw; a third club on turn guaranteed the victory. Martinez came in second and paid $99,395.
Rise of Jordison to Poker Stardom
Within Jordison’s remarkable career, this victory marks only the most recent success. She starred at the 4th Annual Global Poker Awards in 2023, just missing out on the GPI Female Player of the Year award to Cherish Andrews. She did, however, pocket about $600,000 in live events, and was voted Breakout Player of the Year.
Thanks in great part to her commitment to honing her skills—especially via JakaCoaching.com— Jordison attributes much of her recent success.
For me, Faraz [Jaka] has been a fantastic source. I have visited the site from its opening. She remarked, “I spent a lot of time studying and it paid off.”
Jordison was delighted with her performance even if her deep run in the event caused her to miss her return flight.
“Three years ago, hardly knowing anyone, I arrived at Midwest poker These days, this community is my family and makes me better since so many of them are very wonderful.
