Asian Poker Tour Phu Quoc Main Event Sets a New Record with 795 Entries

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) keeps breaking new ground. The APT Phu Quoc Main Event had a huge number of players. The event was held at the fancy Corona Resort and Casino, and 795 people signed up, beating the previous record of 507 entries set in 2023. It has become one of the most memorable stops in APT history, with a prize pool of VND 25 Billion ($1 Million).

Asian Poker Tour: It’s Time For A Prestigious Prize!

There are a lot of prizes at stake. The winner will get VND 4,710,000,000 (about US$185,430) and the famous 24K Gold Lion Asian Poker Tour Main Event trophy. The event is now down to the top 50 players, and those who are still in it will get at least VND 87,500,000 (~US$3,445). The Lead Is Taken By Nghiem Xuan Thieu.

The chip winner after Day 2 was Nghiem Xuan Thieu of Vietnam, who had a huge stack of 1,703,000 chips. Thieu rose to the top of the table when his pocket Aces beat those of fellow Vietnamese player Nguyen Nang Quang in a crucial hand. Thieu is a rising star in the poker world. He just won his first live cash game in the Sunday Superstack event. However, He is now in first place going into Day 3, with Do Tien Vu (1,547,000 chips) from Vietnam and Hu Jinlong (1,523,000 chips) from China close behind.

Asian Poker Tour Highlights Of An Exciting Side Event 

  • Event #49: High Roller for One Day

The Australian player Julian Warhurst put on a fantastic show, and his pocket Aces helped him beat the Thai player Chumpon Naisanthat. Additionally, Warhurst won the first prize of VND 1,053,000,000, which is about US$41,472. Naisanthat came in second and won VND 758,990,000, which is about US$29,870.

  • Event #47: No Limit Hold’em 

Out of 147 players, Japan’s Ryo Kotake emerged as the winner and secured his first APT title. He got away with VND 369,572,000, which is about $14,550. Nevertheless, Thao Dang Hong from Vietnam came in second, and Suksombat Ponlawat from Thailand came in third.

  • Event #48: PLO Hi-Lo with 4 and 5 cards

Hatayo Kitajima, an experienced Japanese player, achieved his fifth APT title, a significant achievement. Kitajima won VND 53,042,000, which is about US$2,087,000. He became one of the tour’s most reliable players.

  • Event #50: Turbo-Super Hold’Em

Thai beginner Wongkrajang Chainarong won his first live poker tournament and celebrated by giving away VND 32,998,500 (about US$1,299). Despite, it was an amazing feat for the young player to beat Ivan Ermin of Russia and Park Youngsoo of South Korea.

  • Event #52: Turbo

After beating Zhang Yankai of China, Daniel Stancer of the UK added his name to the list of APT winners. Stancer won first place and VND 142,944,400 (about $5,626), while Zhang had to settle for second.

The Asian Poker Tour Zodiac Classic Gets Some Attention.

Even though the Asian Poker Tour Zodiac Classic (Event #51) promised a prize pool of VND 2.5 billion (~US$100,000), it has already grown to VND 3,884,850,000 (~US$152,945), which is more than what was expected. John Perry from Australia has 260,300 chips, which puts him in a favorable situation to win the VND 1,019,780,000 (~US$40,150) grand prize. Le Thong Su from Vietnam and Lyu Junqiang from China round out the top three.

A Big Step Forward For The Asian Poker Tour

The Asian Poker Tour Phu Quoc Main Event and its side events show that live poker is becoming more and more popular in Asia. Not only did this event break records, it also showed off the amazing skills of players from all over the area. All eyes are on the last 50 players in the Main Event as Day 3 starts. They are all trying to win. The Asian Poker Tour Phu Quoc Main Event is a wonderful example of how the world of poker is always changing and growing.
