With multiple live events happening concurrently, the worldwide poker landscape is humming with action. Rising on the global scene, Indian poker players have kept up outstanding performances in several events. Although the EPT Cyprus lately finished with outstanding performances by Indian players as Ankit Ahuja, Apoorva Goel, and Santhosh Suvarna, other significant events now take the stage. Running at the opulent Okada Manila in the Philippines, one such event is the Pokerstars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Manila Championship 2024.

Drawing participants from all across the world, the APPT Manila Championship is among the best poker players even in the area. Run from October 18 to October 27, the 2024 edition has a busy agenda with 62 events. Among all the thrills, Indian players have already made a name for themselves on a few tournaments with long runs and even a coveted title triumph under their credit.

Poker Players: Early Indian Success In Appt Manila 2024

Early on in the APPT Manila 2024 Poker Players, Indian players proved their ability and fortitude by guaranteeing deep finishes. Second event: Okada Kickoff; ₱10M Guaranteed had some very good performances from Indian candidates. Drawing 468 entrants, the event had 71 players overall finishing in the money. Among them was Chirag Shah, who came in at an amazing 16th place and paid ₱93,000 (~₹1.35 lakh).

Still, the best Indian performance in this tournament came from Siddharth Karia, the ambassador from PokerStars India, who made it to the final table and came sixth. Karia’s performance brought him a respectable payment of ₱380,000 (~₹5.51 lakh), one of India’s major early tournament successes.

Proof of his consistency in live events, Chirag Shah kept up his great performance by making another final table in Event 4: Knockout Turbo [₱5K Bounty]. Shah placed fourth in this knockout style event and won ₱67,000 (~₹97,000). His outstanding performance didn’t stop there; he then guaranteed his third payday of the season in Event 17: Survivor Knockout [₱30K Bounty]. ₱1M Guaranteed, in which he came in eighth position earning ₱43,000.

Pranav Agarwal Brings India Their First Title From Appt Manila 2024

Although several Indian players made noteworthy deep runs, the APPT Manila Championship for India’s highlight came in Event 13: NLH–20/15/10 when Pranav Agarwal secured India’s maiden series title. With a 25,000 buy-in, this event had a meagre field of 32 entries. The battle was intense even with the small field; the final prize pool came at 682,880.

Having negotiated this competitive field, Agarwal came first with 207,200 (3 lakh). For Agarwal, this victory was a significant turning point since it was his first live poker championship. Agarwal has been steadily developing his name, even if his live poker resume might not yet be comprehensive. He had a great run at the Poker Dream 11 in August 2024, notching three cashes, including two final table finishes in bounty events. His most recent performances point to a rising talent, and his APPT Manila triumph confirms his promise.

Poker Players Event 13: NLH-20/15/10 paid out the following final sums:

  • First place: Pranav Agarwal from India—₱207,200
  • Po Hsun Liao, Taiwan, ₱181,800 came in second.
  • Third place goes to Takemi Munakata of Japan for ₱106,000.
  • David Channon from the USA (₱79,000 came in fourth; Rex Clinkscales from the USA (₱61,000 came in fifth.
  • Yasuhiro Otsuka, Japan, ₱47,880, came sixth.

A Future Promise For Indian Poker Players

The triumph of Pranav Agarwal in Manila is evidence of the growing presence of Indian players on the international poker scene. More players are traveling the world as poker becomes more and more popular in India and their performances are attracting notice. Given Agarwal’s rather recent ascent in the live poker world, his victory in Event 13 is extremely remarkable. Other aspiring Indian poker players probably will find encouragement in his success.

Moreover, the performances of professionals like Chirag Shah and Siddharth Karia in several events highlight the depth of ability inside the Indian poker scene. Shah has been a great player, regularly finishing strongly in several events. His several cashes in APPT Manila 2024 show his talent and will; it will be interesting to see how he keeps doing in the next events.

Poker Players: Last Thought

With Pranav Agarwal’s title triumph and other deep finishes by other Indian players, the APPT Manila 2024 has already shown to be a profitable series for Indian poker players. There is optimism that as the show goes on, more Indian players will keep shining on this elite venue. The success of professionals like Agarwal, Karia, and Shah not only emphasises their particular skills but also the increasing prominence of India in the worldwide poker scene.

Indian players are leaving their mark in poker tournaments all around as events like the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) Grand 2024 also take place back home in Goa. There is little doubt that as poker expands in India, more Indian players will be outstanding at the top levels of the game. One of many fascinating futures Indian poker has ahead is shown by the APPT Manila 2024.
