Poker Pro Triumphs in $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em, Securing Second Bracelet and $1.97 Million Prize
Jason Koon has once again proven his dominance in the poker world, clinching his second gold bracelet in the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller event. The 39-year-old poker professional outlasted a competitive field of 171 entries to claim the top prize of $1,968,927.
This victory marks a significant milestone in Koon’s career, as it not only adds to his already impressive record but also brings him closer to the top of poker’s all-time money list. Despite the hefty payout, this victory does not even crack Koon’s top five most significant career scores, highlighting his consistent success at high-stakes events over the years.

Jason Koon’s Impressive Career and Recent Success
Koon’s poker journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. With a career spanning over a decade, the 12-time Triton Poker champion is no stranger to high-stakes competition. He has accumulated an impressive portfolio of victories, including five multi-million-dollar scores and numerous cashes between $1 million and $2 million.
Since May 2025, Koon has been on a tear, securing over $6.5 million in earnings, including two wins at Triton Montenegro. His success has propelled him to third place on poker’s all-time money list, with nearly $66 million in lifetime earnings and more than 300 recorded cashes. His ability to consistently perform at the highest level in major buy-in events sets him apart from his peers.
A Shift in Approach: Playing on His Terms
In recent years, Koon has shifted his approach to the game of poker. Known for his relentless work ethic early in his career, the poker pro now focuses on select tournaments, allowing him to play on his terms.
“I just play when I want to now. I’m very committed to that,” said Koon, reflecting on his evolving mindset. He has adopted a more balanced lifestyle, prioritizing family and limiting his travel. “Whenever I show up, I’m ready to do the thing,” he added.
This victory also came with notable achievements beyond the prize money. Koon earned 750 PokerGO Tour points, pushing him into 12th place on the high-stakes leaderboard. Furthermore, the 936 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points he earned have placed him back in contention for this year’s prestigious POY title.

The WSOP: A Special Place for Jason Koon
Koon’s connection with the WSOP runs deep, as it holds a special place in his heart. Reflecting on his early years, Koon recalls watching the World Series of Poker (WSOP) on ESPN while in college, dreaming of one day competing in the event. “I love it,” he said when asked about his success in the series.
“Whenever I was in college, I was just watching WSOP all the time… and I still, I come back, and I may not feel that same buzz anymore, but I see young people here that are excited to play, and that makes me really happy.”
With his second bracelet secured and a spot in the Player of the Year race, Koons’ legacy in the world of poker continues to grow, cementing his status as one of the game’s most successful and respected professionals.
